Finally something that my child doesn't hate in the pool     On: 2010-06-14

This product is wonderful, I have a 2 year old who is small for her age and so we had a problem on our hands. She fit in the baby floats but she didnt want to just sit the whole time, but the swimmies that fit on a childs arm were often too big. We also tried life jackets and the bathing suits with the float pads in the bathing suit most times we just would forgo swimming altogether. I decided to try this and thought "Well here is more money to throw away.", boy was I wrong! This is perfect for my child as I said she is small but this customized to her size and will grow with her, this is not a one season solution it will last. It holds her up without throwing her forward or backward and without having it right up under her chin. Thank you Thank you Thank you!!

Awesome! Can't say enugh good things about these....     On: 2010-06-01

I bought 2 puddle jumpers. One for my daughter who is 35lbs and 2.5 years old and one for my son who is almost 4 years old and 30lbs. They worked so well. My kids loved having them on (and trust me my daughter is very finicky) and they had a blast in the pool for hours.

I was so happy when I found a product with such excellent reviews that even though I did not buy them here I had to post a review. I am telling all my friends w/small children about these Puddle Jumpers.
LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!     On: 2010-04-17

Bought a Puddle Jumpers jacket for our 2 year old after reading all the reviews. I am soooo happy that I did!! We first started off with floaties and then moved on to a life jacket. Both were a waste of money because my son would flip over on his back or face down. After wearing the Puddle Jumper for just a few days in the pool he is so confident now that hes swimming in the deep in "by myself" as he would say and jumping in. Its a miracle because this is all coming from a kid that wouldnt leave the first step on our first day of swimming and when I finally got him off the steps he had a death grip around my neck...I never thought he would be comfortable in the water but sure enough Puddle Jumpers cured him of his fears and he now LOVES swimming so much its a battle to get him out of the water. Although hes not "swimming on his own" this product gives him some independence and he can have fun playing instead of being held all the time. A+++ to the creators, what a wonderful product.
jumper review     On: 2010-04-14

Worked well. Very safe. Took a while for the youngster to get used to it.
The only floatie to have!     On: 2010-04-08

Weve tried every floation device out there and this is the only one to have!

My son is 2 1/2 (26lbs on the small side) and has an independent streak a mile wide. The puddle jumper allows my son the oppurtunity to swim freely: he can bend his arms, hes in the proper swim position, can swim on back, can lean forward to blow bubbles, etc... Its not "tippy" and he is completely comfortable jumping into the pool with it on and he "pops" right up.

I had the stap quite tight on him at first because I assumed it needed to be and I noticed it was chafing his back a tad until I loosened it - I certainly wouldnt recommend it too loose - snug is good - tight is too much!

I wont be traveling to any lake or pool without this!

super cute and unique     On: 2010-04-02

Loved the style and design. Easy to use. Only problem is its not inflatable/deflatable so its harder to store, when not using.
puddle jumpers     On: 2010-03-05

We have not yet tried this out in the pool. But from what I can see, it is a very well made product, my daughter (3) loves it. She runs around with it on and pretends to swim. She seems very comfortable wearing them and they surely do work better than just the regular swimwings / floaties. The material seems to be high quality and I am pleased to see how happy my little one is putting them on - and leaving them on, because even the safest product will only work if it is being used!!!!! There are no scratchy seams on them like on the blow up plastic ones, and her movement is not restricted by it either.
Great Product     On: 2010-01-25

I was getting crazy trying to find a good fir a reliable life jacket. But buying this Puddle Jumper was the best choice i could of made. My daughter 5 years old, and she had fun in the adult pool with us and also at open see with waves. She felt confident as a big girl!!!!

Thank you all for wonderful reviews which help me to buy this product.
Awesome Product     On: 2009-11-23

My 4 year old LOVED this product, she used to want to wear a swimming suit that contained "floaters" AND a life jacket to feel comfortable in the water - with the Puddlejumper she felt even more secure and we could not drag her away from being in the pool/ocean! My 2 year old, who is just big enough to use it wasnt as excited about it, but I loved her having it when in the pool and at the beach so I didnt have to worry as much about her safety. This is so much better than just having water wings. It keeps the child upright in the water but also allows a maximum range of mobility. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone with toddlers who will be spending time in the water!
Confidence builder!     On: 2009-10-01

I love this item. My 4 year old daughter is timid and has had trouble getting the idea of floating, kicking and paddling. With the puddle jumper on she can float easily and seems to have much greater confidence. This has allowed her to practice kicking and paddling. She moves through the water easily and says "Im doing the front stroke!" I like the design better than water wings because it gives more support to the torso and its nice to have something that she can put on over her favorite swimsuits and take off easily. Good product!!
Puddle Jumper - Brilliant!     On: 2009-09-25

I bought this USCG approved item having read a number of reviews for more typical life jackets that were not too favorable for use in pools. The most common problems seemed to involve lack of flexibility and tilting back the child or riding up. The puddle jumper is absolutely ideal for use in a pool and allows the child to swim rather than just float. My 2 year old jumps in off the side no problem at all. I often have to take my 4 year old and 2 year old swimming on my own so the peace of mind that it gives me is a real help. It means that I dont need any floatation aid for the 4 year old (who can swim short distances) beacause I can focus more on her knowing that the other one is not going to drown!
Safety without the bulk     On: 2009-09-24

Its so nice to finally find a coast guard approved floatation device that is not bulky. Its basically like those floaties the kids wear on their arms, except these are foam with an added pad in front of their chest.

My kids love them. They can move around freely in them. I wasnt sure they could at first glance. That the devices are so cute is a plus.

Good for the pool for kids who cant swim.

UPDATE:

My kids have had this for about a year. They can swim, but hey still enjoy wearing it now and then. I get lots of comments from parents wanting to buy them. Its obvious when you see it in action how comfortable the children are wearing this coastguard approved floatation device. The best thing is they are allowed in public pools that dont allow floaties.
A must if you have little people and a pool!     On: 2009-09-24

Product helps kids gain confidence in the pool and works great. We have one for each of our grandchildren and never worry about them in the pool. Weve tried other products but this is by far the best!!!! Great quality and the kids love to wear them because they are also cute.
Puddle Jumper     On: 2009-09-13

This is a life jacket but MORE than that. My son would not get in the water or when he did would NOT let go of my neck. Then we tried this and WOW WOW WOW now I cant keep him out of the water. He LOVES it and it allows him to float, swim, and so much more. He feels like a BIG kid and he is only 3 years old. I bought a second one to keep in my car so I have no matter where we go he always want to wear it when in the water. A MUST HAVE PRODUCT!
Great purchase     On: 2009-09-11

Love it! My 2 1/2 y/o son loves it! Increases confidence in the pool. A little bulky to travel with but an essential for vacation.

fabulous find     On: 2009-09-05

This thing is fabulous...once you get one, you will wonder why this wasnt invented years ago!
My 2 year old can swim independently in the pool while wearing this. It has improved his comfort in the water and I can feel relaxed knowing that he is very safe while wearing it. I have recommended this to all of my friends with little ones and those who have made the purchase love it as well. Dont hesitate-buy this product now! It is worth way more than the cost!
Great swim aide!     On: 2009-09-04

This product is excellent for any young swimmer. I have used it with 2 different 3-year-olds who do not currently swim independently and they both did great with it and loved it!!! I have also used it in my pool with 2 children with disabilities and it was remarkable the difference it made as compared to a swim vest. Both children could be independent in the pool without an adult holding onto them directly. Both of the children have cerebral palsy and have significant difficulty moving on land. Fabulous find!!!!!!!
awesome     On: 2009-08-31

Perfect for the kids! They never deflate or can slip off their arms and their face stays above the water. I can sit from the side and watch them swim instead of always having to be in the pool. Great product!!!
AmAzInG vest     On: 2009-08-31

I have been looking for a loong time for something to help my daughter feel more comfortable in the pool. A friend told me about Stearns Puddle Jumpers and it is the best money I have spent. My daughter used to cling to my neck for dear life in the pool. She did great the very first time we used it. I just held on to her fingers and the second time she was kicking her way across the pool. I like this because she can still learn to swim and this keeps her head from going under. She is already starting to try and float on her back after only 2 uses. I am a very happy mom thanks to this product. I have bought one for all the kids in my family. AND it is US Coast Guard approved!!! Cant beat the buy.
The best flotation device for toddlers out there!     On: 2009-08-29

My daughter was afraid to let go of us before we bought this. Within 15 minutes she was swimming around like a fish! We now feel confident to let her swim around freely. Worth every penny!
We LOVE this product!     On: 2009-08-24

Our daughter had used this flotation device at a Great Wolf Lodge resort this past winter. So when looking for something for her to wear in a pool at a vacation house we remember this and searched for it. It arrived on time, fits and works great just as we hoped. Our daughter has not once complained about it in anyway and it has raised her confidence in the water. One thing I wish is that we would have looked around more first. I found it for about half the price we paid (including our shipping)at a chain store, but what matters is we have it and love it!

I have the yellow duck Pudle Jumper     On: 2009-08-10

Im going to give it a 5-star rating because even though my toddler hasnt yet used this product, I recently saw several children at a resort who seemed to love them. I just wanted to say that I JUST purchased this item at my local big-box store (you know who) on sale for $10, plus I didnt have to pay shipping. They carry in in yellow duckie and green froggie designs. Good luck!
IT WORKS!!     On: 2009-08-09

I have twin 3 years olds who hate to get their face wet. When we get in the pool someone has to be holding them because no other floatation device will keep them from tipping over or dipping down. I read the reviews on the Puddle Jumper and figured it was worth a shot. IT WORKS!! The first time we got in the pool, both boys were able to swim on their own without getting their face wet. This thing is worth every penny!! The only thing I wonder about is why the strap for the buckle is not adjustable. I wonder if my 37 pound kids will still fit in this next summer, but I only write that for the sake of the company. If you want my two cents... BUY IT and enjoy your pool!!
Great life jacket!!!     On: 2009-08-06

I LOVE these life jackets!! I have only used them for about a month, but my 3 year old twins have gotten so much more confident in the water since they started using them. They have never had a problem with tumping forward or backwards, the vest do a great job of keeping them upright with their chins above the water. But they are also manuverable enough that they can easily (and comfortably) lean forward to get on their tummies to make swimming/dog paddle movements. They can float all by themselves, and feel comfortable enough that we dont have to hold on to them at all times.

They are also cute, so my kids actually LIKe to wear them! My son is right at 30lbs, but my daughter is a few pounds below that and she has no problems whatsoever with the vest, even though it is rated for 30lbs and up.

Well, well worth the purchase!!!
LOVE IT!     On: 2009-07-17

My son is 5... hes insistent upon the fact that he cant swim/wont learn to swim. This life vest is awesome! He jumps from the high dive into the deep end and swims around with the big kids. He even swam in a huge lake, jumping off the dock. The vest fits very snug - I am not at all concerned about it coming off. I LOVE IT, love it, love it!
floation device for toddler     On: 2009-07-09

This product is fabulous! It is the first I have found that is actually approved by the US coastguard as a lifesaving device. Unlike the simple arm floaties that can pop and even allow the little ones to tip face down into the water, this does not. It holds our precious little ones up enough to help them become condifent in the pool without fear for us as well as them. The fact that it snaps securely in the back out of reach of their hands gives us more peace on mind. The different colors it comes in are great. Our two year old grandaughter would not get into the pool at all until we received this and now she is all over it. I would say this is a must for any parent or grandparent or any pool owner who has little ones who love the water but have not yet learned to swim. The price is great.
Thrilled to death. Thanks Stearns!

Fantastic, fun, safe, and easy to use!     On: 2009-07-09

This is by far and away the best flotation device Ive tried. My son (2 1/2 years) loves it! Its easy to put on, works very well, is well made, dries quickly, and most importantly is something he is happy to wear since it is comfy and fun looking. This device is also a coast guard approved flotation device for recreational boating in low risk areas. Will be using it at the lake not just the pool. I dont ever write reviews, but cannot say enough good things about this! Much better than any other swim aids on the market.
Best Floation Device Ever     On: 2009-07-06

My 3-year-old daughter has refused to wear any life vest until we found this one. She slipped it right on and let me put her in the pool. Within 20 minutes of practicing kicking and paddling, she wanted me to let her go. This float kept her head above water and still allowed her to be mobile. I was SO impressed with how well she did. I would HIGHLY recommend this product to everyone!
LOVE IT!!     On: 2009-07-02

After using this product for only 2 weeks, my 2 yr old son is now purposely dunking his head under water and making swimming motions. He is no longer afraid of the water and LOVES this floatation device!! It is the best one weve ever used and I recommend it for every child ages 2-4!
Best floatation device ever used!!     On: 2009-06-30

A friend recommended this float to me and Im so glad she did. I have a 3 year old with Down Syndrome and we have tried many different life jackets and floats. All of the life jackets we tried pitched him forward into the water face first. Water wings on the arms were just not enough support for him. I bought this float for him last year and it was worth every penny! We have an inground pool so my son is constantly in and out of the pool playing. This float is so comfortable for him that he doesnt mind wearing it in or out of the pool and best of all it works. It keeps him upright while allowing him the freedom to move his arms and kick his legs. Being in the water has helped to increase his upper body strength and he can propel himself all around the pool at will. He is so confident with the float on that he now jumps into the water from the side of the pool on his own. We use it at our local water park too. It is also a Coast Guard approved floatation device. Now I recommend it to all of my friends with toddlers! It truely is the best float on the market!!
They put them in a swimming position     On: 2009-06-27

I bought two of these for my twins and I love them. These flotation devices have given my 4 year olds a new mobility in the water in a swimming position instead of bobbing up and down. Their comfort in the water has grown tremendously and they naturally imitate the swimming moves. They are stable and secure, but as with any flotation device can be pulled under by another child. You still need to stay close no matter what but I am far more relaxed in the water with these on!
Awesome for use in all bodies of water     On: 2009-06-27

The grandparents bought our 2-yo and 4-yo each one of these, and we could not be more pleased. We have used them in the pool, the lake, and even the Gulf. They provide much more stability than water wings, but allow more freedom of movement than the full-body flotation suits. The kids notice a huge difference, and it shows in their confidence in the water. Within minutes of wearing the Puddle Jumpers, our 4-year-old (who is generally timid in even bathwater) was leaping off the diving board and wanting to be tossed in the air.

Two points of warning, which are not enough to warrant even a one-star deduction: If your child is on the smaller side, you will want to be *sure* you cinch the strap tightly around his chest. Our 2-year-old has never slipped out of his suit, but a couple of times when we loosened the strap the wings slipped down below his elbows. If he had wanted to, he might could have pulled his arms out.

Also, I am not kidding about these suits inspiring confidence in your kids. You may find your kids feel invulnerable around the water, even when they arent wearing the vest. You will want to be sure their confidence doesnt make you less vigilant in monitoring the kids in the water. No life vest or flotation device is absolutely fool-proof, and any kid can find himself suddenly in distress.

Have a fun and safe summer, everyone!
Fabulous - loved by parents & kids!     On: 2009-06-14

LOVE THIS PRODUCT! First introduced to it at a pool by a lifeguard and had to by one for each of my kids (1 1/2 and 3 1/2). The 3 year old can comfortablely swim by herself in this life jacket. Unlike tradionaly life jackets, there is not strap that run between the legs that always annoys kids. It doesnt ride up and is very comortable for the kids. Plan to use it at home as well as the local water park where only "Coast Guard Approved" life jackets are permitted - this fits the bill. Full protection for the kids while being comfortable and not bulky. Cute designs too - our little girl oves the ladybug and our little guy calls the orange one nemo. Safe summer fun!
Great flotation device     On: 2009-06-12

I have looked all over for something that will fit my active 17 month old who likes to toddle around aimlessly at the pool. Im concerned that she will topple in and while Im always just a few steps behind her, I may not be close enough to catch her. I read all the reviews on this and was set to purchase it on Amazon. However, I was in Wal-Mart today and found it there--for $15! They were in bins near the life-vest area in the Sports/Outdoor section. They had a green frog, yellow duck, blue shark, and red chicken (?). They are actually considered a lifejacket, Type V PFD. The weight specification is 30-50 lbs, which is higher than my toddler (probably not yet 24 lbs even). We got the duck one and she loves it. Im taking her to the pool with it this weekend and Ill update my review once weve tested it with her there.
We love the Puddle Jumper     On: 2009-06-11

It keeps my 2.5 year olds head above water and lets her be more mobile and swim more freely then in a life jacket. Its not a substitute for no supervision but its better then water wings. I would reccomend this to anyone with a child.
Safest I've used...     On: 2009-06-10

I bought life vests, used the ones at the pool - even tried the floaty-swim suit thing...this is the only thing that kept my childs head above the water - and Im including life-vests in that category. Kind of scary, but I would trust my child in this thing above all others. Now Im trying to find an infant one for my latest child.
Wow! We love Puddle Jumpers!     On: 2009-05-31

We had planned to attend a party with a pool and I was worried that my crazy 20 month old would be unsafe around the water. I have tried a few of the vests and bathing suits with flotations in them and nothing floats her quite right. She is also very thin (22lbs) so she doesnt meet the weight requirement for most all flotation equipment including the puddle jumpers. However, I ordered it anyway and I am so glad. My daughter spent the day in the pool. Swimming and jumping. The puddle jumpers floated her in a natural swimming position on her tummy. When she turned over on her back her head was above water. The puddle jumpers never budged and she didnt mind wearing them at all. Great product!
Sliced bread, move over!     On: 2009-05-27

I saw a couple of kids wearing these at a local swim park, then saw an ad in a parenting magazine, and after reading the rave reviews, I had to see for myself. My 3 yr old is comfortable in the water but cant swim on her own. Now we cant even hold onto her in the water after using it once because she is SO confident and independent and loves that she swims "by herself". It frees up our hands to be able to play with her baby sister in the water now too. Its my new favorite gift for every toddler I know!
Best flotation device ever!     On: 2009-05-11

My 2 year old son loves his floatie! We both love the freedom it gives him to move around in the water. He doesnt have to be held anymore which he loves! Hell float on his back, front, and upright of course! It does not flip him face down as other life vests weve tried. Also, he is under 30 lbs (the manufacturer says it fits from 30-50 lbs) and it fits him just fine. He is 26 lbs. I almost didnt buy it because of this but am so glad I did!
Great for Toddlers learning to Swim     On: 2009-04-08

My 3 y/o granddaughter got this last summer to use in our pool. She was terribly afraid to be let go in the water unless she was standing in the steps. We had previously tried one of the "swimsuits" with the tube in the middle, which held her up well, but didnt allow the freedom of movement necessary to make swimming motions. We also tried the little inflatable devices that go over the upper arms, but they dont really support the child and are not safe. Then, after just a couple of times with her "Froggy" on, she wanted to swim without our help. Within a few days, she was "swimming" around all by herself (supervised of course). This device has given her the security she needs to feel comfortable in the water. It holds her upright and does not pinch, chafe or bind like other flotation devices. It is also very easy to put on and take off. Just slip over the arms & buckle in the back --- goes on like a vest in reverse with just one wide band and a clip-type buckle across the back. I can see why someone said this is uncomfortable for a boy; but a girls swimsuit protects her delicate skin. Its Coast Guard approved and the materials held up very well over the entire swimming season. We stored it in an outdoor bin when not in use and now its still good for this season. If youre looking for the perfect safety device for your child that is comfortable and allows them to "swim", you need to try this.
good     On: 2009-03-18

My son loves this life support. It still gives him freedom to swim around on his own, but without the full body suit he had before. The only problem is the strap is rough on the back.
Freedom for toddlers in the water     On: 2008-12-23

My 2-yr-old loves her puddle jumper! She can move in the water, kicking her legs to swim. She has so much more fun in the pool. She is fearless in water, so as a mom I feel better knowing she is safe. And now I dont have to hold her all the time -- I can swim right next to her and actually get a little exercise myself! And my daughter is learning to kick to propel herself. She also floats on her back, which she was never willing to do before. I love this thing!
Great for little ones....     On: 2008-10-04

We bought this for our 2 yr son old after trying out one that our 4yr old niece had. He really wasnt afraid of the water, but held on pretty tight to us when in the pool, even with a jacket-style flotation vest on. After putting this on and a few minutes in the water, he said "Let me go, I want to do it myself". He swam all over the pool like a fish (under our close watch). Please dont think that this is something you can substitute for your supervision, because its not that. It can, however, help your child in the confidence department and let them work on building their swimming skills.

Excellent product!!!     On: 2008-09-19

My son is 2 1/2 and was afraid of being in the water - he was always clinging on to me. We have tried 5 or more different types of live vests and devices and nothing made him feel safe..until puddle jumpers. He loves it, it is comfortable and he is able to "swim and move around" by himself. We have only tried it in the pool, not in the ocean or lake where there might be rougher waters. But it works, he is confident and enjoys the water more than ever. My son is loving the movie Finding Nemo, so the orange one was excellent for him. This product is very much worth the money.
Kids PFD     On: 2008-09-08

This is by far the best PFD for little ones (my daughter is 2). Keeps head above water and doesnt flip over on her back.
Love it!     On: 2008-09-01

I purchased this for my 3-year-old daughter. She loves it! She regularly asks for her "ladybug" to go swimming. She can swim "by myself" (as she likes to say) with it. It allows my husband and I to play with her in the pool instead of just holding her. I have recommended them to my family and friends with young children and will be buying one for my son when he is big enough.
Couldn't be more pleased!     On: 2008-08-26

I researched reviews for the Puddle Jumper before purchase and found nothing but positive remarks about it. I purchased it for my 21 month old grandson and he loves it. It gives him freedom of movement and allows him to learn how his body will naturally react in the water. It gives the adults the satisfaction of Coast Guard approved safety ratings and hours of pool fun for our little ones. I would definately recommend it for anyone looking for childrens flotation devices.
No longer scared of water     On: 2008-08-25

This product hepled my 3 yr old to no longer fear deep water and made our summer so much fun! She swims in water as deep as 10 feet as the device keeps her floating while allowing her to kick her legs and move her arms freely. I recommed this to anyone having issues with their children learning to swim!
Puddle Jumper = Awesome     On: 2008-08-03

This product is great! It allows my 22 month old to float upright, and gives him the control for floating on his stomach or in a treading water position and also allows him to kick and swim. None of the other vest type products allowed this upright and natural floating - he can float on his own with me nearby. I also think that it is giving him excellent confidence in the water as well. I would recommend this wholeheartedly.

Great for toddler learning to swim!     On: 2008-08-02

I got this for my toddler who just turned two years old. He is 30lbs and at the lower end of the weight range for this. Ive tried several other items and this is PERFECT for pool use. Every time he used it he became more confident in the water and now is comfortable swimming around. It is very well made and as long as you put it on properly it keeps him afloat wonderfully. An EXCELLENT toddler item for the pool!
Fantastic product!!     On: 2008-08-01

I cant say enough about this product -- it is simply perfect. My 2.5 year old son can join all the water fun -- including the water slides -- and stay afloat. It has completely changed his attitude about water in that he no longer fears it. He has begun to put his face under water, too. The product allows full range of motion without compromising safety. The best part is that due to coast guard approval, he is able to use it at the YMCA and other places that demand it.

This is a GREAT product! Dont hesitate to get one for a kid you love.
AWESOME PRODUCT!!!!!!     On: 2008-07-28

This is a must have for children ages 2-4 (30-50 pounds). We have a pool and before purchasing, my son would just want me to hold him - NOW, he swims all over (including the deep end) w/ no problem at all. PLUS, it is coast guard certified!
GREAT!     On: 2008-07-25

I highly recommend this. I was hesitatant about it by the looks of it but it is wonderful. My 2 year old and 4 year old wear it all the time in our pool. I like that they cannot get it off. My almost 4 year old was getting into the habit of trying to take his swim muscles off when we had our back turned. This definitely gives me piece of mind and it is coast guard approved as a life jacket. Two thumbs up in a circle!!
Great Product!     On: 2008-06-30

I think this vest is wonderful! My 2 year old wears this in the pool and swims all over. He even jumps in the water and he comes right up. This keeps his face out of the water, but hes kept at a good angle for swimming too. Overall, this is perfect, I definitely recommend this!
Fabulous for the pool     On: 2008-06-19

I bought this for my 18 month old and he loves the freedom it allows him. This flotation device keeps his head above water (unless he wants to dunk) and stabilizes him whether on his front or back. This is the best buy ever for water babies!
